According to the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius is recommended as the optimal consumption point. Experts say that lowering the temperature even by a few degrees can increase electricity costs by 5 to 8 percent.

However, a more important point relates to the constant turning off and on of the AC. Experts say that when the AC is completely turned off, the home space heats up very quickly, and the unit has to work harder to reach the desired temperature again; something that ultimately increases electricity consumption.

For travel time, there is also a different recommendation. Experts suggest not to turn off the AC completely but to set it to a temperature of 26 to 27 degrees. This helps prevent humidity from accumulating in the home and avoids unpleasant odors and mold.

Even simple tips like closing curtains, shutting doors, and cleaning filters before leaving the house can reduce the strain on the cooling system and lower costs.

Ultimately, a small change in habits can make a big difference in the electricity bill; from choosing the right temperature to relying on the Auto mode instead of manually turning it off and on.
