Etisalat's 5.5G Technology Increases Mobile Upload Speed by Up to 3 Times
Etisalat UAE has announced the commercial launch of a new technology in its 5.5G network that can increase upload speeds on compatible devices by up to three times. This technology, which is being commercially launched for the first time in the world, speeds up the sending of high-quality photos, sharing of videos, and transferring large files.
This technology, known as 2×2 Uplink MIMO with Carrier Aggregation, allows the phone to send two streams of information simultaneously. In addition, combining the capacity of multiple frequency bands helps in transferring larger volumes of data.
However, the significance of this capability is not limited to faster file transfers. With the increasing use of artificial intelligence tools, users need to send information from their phones more than ever; for example, when they ask an AI assistant to analyze an image, review a document, or explain what the phone's camera sees, the information must first be sent to the cloud.
Etisalat states that this technology, by increasing the speed of information transmission, can make interactions with artificial intelligence tools and online services smoother.
Mobile networks have so far focused more on increasing download speeds, but the expansion of high-quality video content and data-intensive applications has made upload speed one of the important needs of users.
Important note: To benefit from this capability, a compatible phone and access to the 5.5G Etisalat UAE network are required. The increase in speed by up to three times is also the maximum performance reported for this technology and may not be experienced in all conditions.
