The new academic year in Dubai does not begin merely with the opening of school doors; this time, teachers are also expected to play a more significant role in educational decision-making.

Over 8,000 educational staff have returned to private schools, children's education centers, and higher education institutions in Dubai or joined this system for the 2026-2027 academic year.

According to the Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the number of teachers in the private education sector of the city has increased by 17.5% over the past three academic years; a growth that indicates Dubai continues to attract educational staff from various countries.

In the back-to-school meetings, Aisha Miran, the Director General of KHDA, emphasized that Dubai's educational programs cannot succeed without the active presence of teachers in classrooms. According to her, the role of a teacher is not just to deliver lessons; it also has a direct impact on students' confidence, character, and future.

However, the more significant event for the new year is the establishment of the Dubai Teachers' Council; a 15-member council that will provide teachers with the opportunity to present their views and experiences directly in educational policies and programs.

This initiative is part of Dubai's 33 Education Strategy; a program aimed at preparing students for the future with a focus on skills, confidence, character, and innovative, inclusive education.

Alongside these changes, KHDA has asked teachers to continue their professional growth and for new teachers to become more familiar with the culture, heritage, and values of the UAE.

In simple terms, Dubai is not just looking for more teachers for the new academic year; it wants to hear the voices of teachers more in shaping the future of its education.
