Dubai is investing in an area that many believe is the future of the city; around Al Maktoum Airport.

It has now been announced that a massive project worth 62 billion dirhams will be built in Dubai South; an area that is set to become one of the most important hubs for living, business, and transportation in the UAE in the coming years. The heart of this project will be a large new mall, the name of which has not yet been announced.

This complex will be built on approximately 22 million square feet of land and will include not only a shopping center but also residential units, shops, and recreational and lifestyle spaces. The goal of the project is to attract both residents of Dubai South and travelers and visitors to the area.

The construction of this mall will be handled by Majid Al Futtaim; the same company that operates Mall of the Emirates and more than 20 other shopping centers in the region. For this reason, many expect the new project to be designed on a very large scale.

This project will be located right next to Al Maktoum Airport; an airport that Dubai has long planned to turn into the largest airport in the world by capacity. For this reason, Dubai South is gradually transforming from a developing area into a 'new city' in the heart of Dubai.

According to published information, this area will also have direct access to highways and main transportation routes; something that will likely make it one of the important future areas for living and investment.
