Dubai has reduced school hours during Ramadan, and fasting students are exempt from physical education classes.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) announced that during Ramadan, the educational hours for private schools in Dubai will be limited to a maximum of 5 hours per day. Additionally, fasting students will be exempt from participating in physical education classes. This decision aims to respect the spiritual nature of Ramadan and alleviate pressure on students and teachers.

According to the new KHDA guidelines, a revised schedule has been set for private schools in Dubai to ensure that learning continues while respecting Ramadan. This approach aims to create a balance between education and the special circumstances of this month.

The KHDA has emphasized that fasting students should not participate in sports classes for health and safety reasons, and schools should provide suitable alternative activities for them if necessary. Furthermore, on Fridays, private schools in Dubai are required to finish classes by 11:30 AM at the latest, allowing students and staff to attend Friday prayers on time.

The KHDA has requested private schools to consider parents' opinions when determining the start and end times of the school day. This initiative aims to strengthen school-family collaboration and support flexible educational programs during Ramadan. These measures are designed to create a supportive educational environment that reflects the social, health, and religious considerations observed in the United Arab Emirates.
