Officials have urged influencers and online store owners to only collaborate with reputable suppliers and ensure the legality of the products.

A photo of a watch, a few promotional stories, or introducing an apparently ordinary perfume; however, if that product is counterfeit, the situation could lead to legal trouble.

Dubai Police have warned young people, influencers, and business page owners that promoting or selling counterfeit goods on social media is considered an offense and can lead to legal action.

According to officials, some fake and anonymous business accounts promise quick income and send counterfeit products such as watches, perfumes, clothing, and accessories to individuals to take photos or promote on their personal pages. Many people think this is merely a simple business activity or a way to earn extra income, while this action constitutes a violation of intellectual property laws and trademark protection in the UAE.

Dubai Police emphasized that even if a person is not fully aware of the counterfeit nature or origin of the goods, legal responsibility is not absolved, and ignorance of the law will not be an acceptable justification.

Officials also warned that illegal trade on social media, in addition to legal consequences, can damage individuals' reputations, erode the trust of followers and customers, and harm the formal economy of the country. On the other hand, consumers may also be deceived and purchase counterfeit branded goods as original products.

The police have asked users, influencers, and online store owners to ensure the credibility of the supplier, legal licenses, and official invoices before promoting or selling any product and to avoid collaborating with anonymous accounts or unreliable sources.

UAE officials have emphasized that the country is serious about combating commercial counterfeiting and protecting intellectual property rights with strict laws and advanced regulatory mechanisms.
