Your future pet may be waiting for you right now in a shelter.

Dubai has opened a new center for animal welfare that aims to simplify the process of finding homes for stray and abandoned dogs and cats; a place where animals are treated, trained, and prepared for life in a family before going to their new homes.

The new animal shelter has been established at the Animal Welfare Shelter Birds and Pets Market in Warsan and operates as a safe space for animals rescued from the streets or unsuitable conditions.

This center is not just a place for keeping animals; it is a complete care facility that offers veterinary services, rehabilitation, and adoption all under one roof. Injured or sick animals are treated at this center, and rehabilitation programs help them prepare for life in new homes.

One of the unique aspects of this shelter is the familiarization space before animals go to their new homes; a place where individuals can spend time with their desired animal before making a final decision and gain a better understanding of its behavior and condition.

This facility includes a fully equipped veterinary clinic, an operating room, an animal care and grooming section, a rehabilitation center, an animal visitation area, and special services for returning lost animals to their owners after verifying identification information.

Alongside this shelter, the Dubai Municipality has also launched an online adoption system so residents can view animals ready for adoption and receive information about their health and behavior before visiting in person.

This project is part of Dubai's broader program to improve animal welfare in the UAE. Collaborating with veterinary clinics for the treatment and rehabilitation of injured animals and continuing sterilization, vaccination, and controlled return programs for street cats are other initiatives of this plan.

Dubai has also previously launched smart feeding stations equipped with artificial intelligence in various parts of the city to ensure a more organized and controlled feeding of stray animals.

Now, this shelter has opened a new path for Dubai residents; not only to help stray animals but also to find a four-legged companion for the years to come.
