The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai announced that all rest areas equipped with air conditioning systems for delivery riders are fully ready for operation before the start of the summer heat season. This initiative is part of the authority's efforts to enhance traffic safety, reduce the likelihood of accidents, and improve working conditions and quality of life for riders.

According to RTA, the maintenance, repair, and preparation operations for about 40 rest centers in various locations across Dubai have been completed. These centers are located in key areas such as Hessa Street, Al Khawaneej, Al Barsha, Al Satwa, Oud Metha, Al Karama, and Arjan.

These locations have been selected based on operational data and a comprehensive assessment of areas with the highest volume of orders and demand for delivery services. This assessment was conducted in collaboration with companies active in the delivery sector. The implementation of this plan comes at a time when the delivery sector in Dubai continues to grow due to increased demand for shipping and delivery services.

Ahmed Mahboub, CEO of the Licensing Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai, stated that traffic safety remains the highest priority for the organization and aligns with Dubai's vision to become a global leader in road safety.

He said:

“We have developed an integrated governance and regulatory framework for the delivery sector that ensures effective oversight of activities in this area across Dubai and contributes to the continuous improvement of service standards.”

Mahboub also explained that these facilities are designed to minimize the impact of direct sunlight while maintaining adequate visibility and lighting through proper thermal insulation.

Each of these rest areas includes the following amenities:

Waiting area equipped with air conditioning

Water cooler and drinking water

Mobile phone charging stations

Dedicated motorcycle parking

Other necessary amenities for riders during working hours

The capacity of each center, depending on its location, is about 10 motorcycle riders, providing them with the necessary facilities for rest and rejuvenation during the workday.

This initiative is part of Dubai's plans to support the workforce in the delivery sector, improve their working conditions, and enhance safety in one of the fastest-growing sectors of the urban economy.
