"Dubai Chocolate," which became one of the most recognized food trends in the world after going viral on TikTok, is now back in the spotlight with a new version featuring birthday cake flavor; a product that shows how food brands continuously recreate successful trends to regain the attention of social media.

Bloomberg described this wave as part of a trend called "Flavormaxxing"; that is, the competition among brands to produce unexpected, exaggerated flavors that are perfectly suited for the online space. This trend is now seen from cafes and store shelves to fast-food menus; from hot honey to matcha with banana bread flavor and bizarre hybrid desserts.

In this new marketing model, the appearance and viral potential of the product sometimes become even more important than its taste. Food industry experts say many brands are now designing products that are photographed and filmed on Instagram and TikTok before they are even consumed.

Market research firm Technomic has also reported that the number of limited-time items on menus in the U.S. has increased by 134% over the past five years; a sign that "novelty" and "trendiness" are now among the most important sales tools in the food industry.

The success of "Dubai Chocolate" emerged precisely in this environment; a product inspired by Middle Eastern flavors that quickly transformed from a specialty snack into a global phenomenon, with various versions entering the market one after another.

Bloomberg states that the growth of this trend is not limited to social media and is also related to economic conditions. In an era where buying a house or a car has become more challenging for many young people, purchasing trendy and relatively inexpensive snacks has turned into a kind of daily reward; something that analysts refer to as "the economy of small pleasures."
