The incident began with a strange call to the Dubai police; a vehicle was stationary in the middle of one of the busy intersections in the Naif area, causing traffic. When the officers arrived at the scene, they were confronted with an unexpected sight: the driver had fallen asleep inside the car.

Police investigations revealed that the man had consumed alcohol before driving and was no longer able to control the vehicle. Tests confirmed alcohol consumption, and the case was referred to the Dubai Traffic Court.

During interrogation, the driver admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages before the incident and then sitting behind the wheel. He requested leniency from the court, but the judge stated that the driver's sleeping in the middle of the street indicated that he had completely lost the ability to drive safely.

Ultimately, the court sentenced this driver to pay a fine of 5,000 dirhams and a three-month suspension of his license; a ruling that will be enforced once finalized.

This incident once again reminded of Dubai's strict laws regarding driving under the influence of alcohol; where even a moment of carelessness can be problematic for both the driver and other road users.
