Construction of a New 80-Kilometer Highway in Dubai
🔸 His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has approved the implementation of the Fourth Corridor project; an approximately 80-kilometer highway that is set to become one of the main communication routes in the Emirates.
🔸 This route will be alongside Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road, serving as the fourth main communication axis and can particularly ease commuting for residents of newer and more distant areas of Dubai.
🔸 The project will be executed in two phases. The first phase extends about 30 kilometers from Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah to Dubai-Al Ain Road, with a cost estimated at approximately 3.5 billion dirhams.
🔸 The second phase will add another approximately 50 kilometers to the route, extending it to Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi.
🔸 This highway will have a total of 12 lanes, 72 bridges, 17 tunnels, and 45 underpasses, with a capacity expected to accommodate up to 24,000 vehicles per hour.
🔸 The new corridor will connect directly to Al Maktoum International Airport and the Union Rail, making access to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates easier.
🔸 According to project information, this route could reduce travel time by up to 60%; a significant matter for residents of areas like Damac Hills 2, The Valley, and other more distant neighborhoods.
