Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, assured that despite the resumption of conflicts between the USA and Iran, Dubai Airports continue to operate normally, and their operational capacity has nearly reached its maximum.

Griffiths told Bloomberg on the sidelines of the Farnborough International Airshow: “We are operating at nearly full capacity.”

He added that passenger traffic remains high, as international airlines gradually resume their flights to Dubai.

These statements indicate the return of Dubai International Airport, DXB, to normal conditions; an airport that faced disruptions in its flight schedule earlier this year due to airspace restrictions in the region.

Dubai International Airport had also prepared itself for one of the busiest summer travel periods at the beginning of July.

Dubai Airports had predicted that around three million passengers would pass through this airport in the first half of July, with daily passenger numbers regularly exceeding 200,000.

Transit passengers were expected to make up about half of the total passengers.

Griffiths noted that since the onset of the regional crisis, Dubai Airports have served over six million passengers; a figure that he says demonstrates the resilience and capability of Dubai's aviation infrastructure during a period of increasing geopolitical uncertainties.
Griffiths stated that while international airline activity is increasing, some major European airlines have yet to resume their flights to Dubai.
He attributed this to travel warnings issued by foreign governments for the region and the difficulties airlines face in obtaining insurance coverage for operating flights.

According to Griffiths, currently about 50 international airlines are operating at Dubai International Airport, which is nearly half the usual number of active airlines at this airport.

Dubai International Airport served 18.6 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, while the number of passengers in March was reported to be 2.5 million.

India, with 2.5 million passengers, remained Dubai Airport's largest country market during this quarter.

Following India, Saudi Arabia with 1.3 million passengers, the United Kingdom with 1.2 million passengers, and Pakistan with 918,000 passengers ranked next.
