The busy mornings on Sheikh Zayed and the long lines of cars have become a part of daily life for many residents of Dubai; however, it seems that Dubai has prepared a serious solution for this problem.

With the approval of the development plan for 'First Al Khail' Street by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, a new corridor parallel to Sheikh Zayed Highway is set to be constructed; a project that is estimated to reduce travel time during peak traffic hours by up to 51% and increase road capacity by about 9,000 vehicles per hour.

This project includes a 15-kilometer elevated route with three lanes in each direction and will connect important areas such as Al Barsha, Al Quoz, Business Bay, and the Expo area. It is expected that over 2.6 million people will use this new route.

Construction of this corridor will begin in the third quarter of 2027 and is expected to be operational by the last quarter of 2030. This project is part of Dubai's 18 billion dirham investment and development package to prepare the city for population and economic growth in the next decade.

Alongside this project, the Dubai Executive Council also approved several other important initiatives; including the launch of the smart system 'Dubai Population Now' to monitor the city's population in real-time with the help of artificial intelligence, Dubai's cultural strategy until 2033, and the establishment of a global center for technology and innovation in the field of Islamic finance.
