Anwar Gargash calls for strengthening defense and security cooperation among regional countries.
Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, called for the revival of cooperation among regional countries in the field of security and defense, warning that attacks on Saudi Arabia undermine the security of the UAE and all other countries in the region.
Gargash stated in a message on the social media platform X that attacks on regional countries have revealed the common nature of the threats these countries face and emphasized that the security of regional countries is inseparable from one another.
He said these attacks stem from the mistaken perception of the aggressor; a perception that regional countries are the weakest link in a war they have tried to avoid entering.
Gargash wrote in his message:
“Since the beginning of the aggression against Arab countries in the region, it has become clear that we are all targeted, and our security is inseparable.”
He warned that targeting Saudi Arabia directly threatens the security of the United Arab Emirates and the entire region.
Gargash called for the revival of joint actions among regional countries, especially in the areas of security and defense, as well as strengthening collective security mechanisms.
He also acknowledged the serious shortcomings in the defense cooperation of regional countries and believed that these weaknesses have encouraged others to target the region.
Gargash concluded by emphasizing:
“The security of the region is a shared responsibility in which there is no room for negligence or delay.”
