As summer begins and electricity consumption increases, a simple feature in the DEWA application and website can help reduce your water and electricity bill, especially if you plan to be away from home for a few days on vacation or travel.

This feature, called Away Mode, allows for remote monitoring of your home's water and electricity consumption. Just register the start and end dates of your absence in your DEWA account before traveling, and the system will monitor your home's consumption during this period.

Once this option is activated, daily or weekly water consumption reports will be emailed to you, and if there is any unusual consumption or leak in the house, you will be notified promptly; an event that can prevent water wastage and sudden increases in your bill.

Users can also determine how frequently these reports are sent to them.

Interestingly, if you have enabled DEWA notifications in the app and your phone's location access is turned on, you will receive a text message reminding you to activate Away Mode when you arrive at Dubai or Abu Dhabi airport.
