Abu Dhabi aims to transform Harry Potter into one of the biggest attractions on Yas Island; this is through a project that is set to compete with the most famous wizarding worlds in amusement parks worldwide.

The expansion of Warner Bros. World on Yas Island is still under construction, but signs indicate that we are not going to face a typical Harry Potter section. It is said that this project is being designed with great attention to detail and may even bring Hogwarts and Diagon Alley together for the first time in one complex.

The main competitor is Universal Parks; where the Harry Potter world has become one of the most popular sections of amusement parks since 2010 with the precise reconstruction of Hogsmeade, Hogwarts, and Diagon Alley. From specialty shops and foods to wands and rides that create the feeling of flying alongside Harry Potter, almost everything is aligned with the film worlds.

However, the Abu Dhabi project has one significant advantage: it will be indoors.

This means that the Harry Potter space on Yas Island will be protected from Abu Dhabi's seasonal heat, and designers will have more freedom to create intricate details without worrying about the sun, wind, and weather conditions.

Even in Miral's job advertisement for this project, there was talk of designing and producing products aimed at providing "top-tier products"; meaning the story is not limited to buildings and rides.

The official opening date has not yet been announced, but a consulting company mentioned in May that this section is likely to open in 2029.

And the reason for all this investment is clear: Harry Potter has already shown that it can attract millions to amusement parks. The CEO of Comcast stated in 2020 that Harry Potter has added about 2 million visitors in some of their parks.

Now Abu Dhabi wants to bring this proven magic to Yas Island; but with one big question: can it create a world even better than the Universal versions?
