A driver of a black car in Sharjah only needed a few minutes of reckless driving for their video to go viral and for their vehicle to be taken directly to the impound lot.

The Sharjah police announced that this driver endangered the safety of residents with dangerous maneuvers and drifting in one of the residential areas of the emirate. In a video released by the police, the car can be seen making sudden movements and skidding on the asphalt; it then enters the sandy area beside the road and quickly returns to the street, creating a cloud of dust and a loud noise from the tires that fills the entire street.

According to the police, following immediate reports from residents, investigations began using surveillance cameras, and the driver was quickly identified and the vehicle was impounded. A legal case has also been filed against them.

The Sharjah police reiterated that dangerous driving and illegal modifications to vehicles in the UAE carry heavy fines. Driving that endangers people's lives can result in a fine of 2,000 dirhams, 23 negative points, a 60-day vehicle impoundment, and a 15,000 dirham release fee.

On the other hand, if the vehicle has unauthorized technical or aesthetic modifications, the driver faces a fine of 1,000 dirhams, 12 negative points, and a 90-day impoundment.

Sharjah will implement stricter laws for vehicle impoundments starting in 2025. Now, for violations such as dangerous driving or stunt maneuvers, the vehicle owner must pay 20,000 dirhams to retrieve their car; a figure that shows how a few seconds of street excitement in the UAE can be very costly.
