His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has outlined 7 principles for living in this city in a letter addressed to the Dubai community; principles that, according to him, can preserve the values on which Dubai has grown.

This letter, titled "A Letter to the Dubai Community," is part of his new book called The Letters; a book containing 26 letters that narrate nearly six decades of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's public service experience. The Arabic version of the book has been available in major bookstores in the UAE since October 1, and the English version is set to be published on October 15.

But what are the seven principles mentioned in this letter?

1. Responsibility

From His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's perspective, life without responsibility has no meaning. Every individual, from employees and managers to parents and citizens, is responsible for their roles and duties, and the government is also responsible for the welfare, security, rights, and happiness of the people.

2. Respect for Humanity

The second principle is about respecting the value and dignity of every human being, regardless of gender, age, culture, belief, or viewpoint. He emphasized that a successful city is not measured solely by its buildings and infrastructure, but also by how people treat one another.

3. Quality and Excellence in Work

The third principle is "Ittqan" or performing work accurately and with quality. From the cleanliness of the city and the quality of services to the work that each individual does; according to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the world's image of Dubai is shaped by these everyday details.

4. Humility

The fourth principle states that progress must be accompanied by humility. Success should not halt the learning process, and Dubai, despite its achievements, should see the road ahead as still long and filled with new things to learn.

5. Optimism

In His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's view, optimism is not just a mindset; it is a way of facing the future. Challenges can turn into opportunities, and what seems impossible today can be achievable with effort and belief.

6. Kindness and Helping Others

The sixth principle is about doing good and helping others; but not just through financial assistance. A kind word, a smile, helping someone who is lost, or removing an obstacle from someone else's path can also be examples of kindness.

7. Loyalty to the Country that Provides Us Security and Belonging
The final principle relates to loyalty to the UAE; from respecting the law and the constitution to protecting the country's achievements and values such as honesty, justice, respect, responsibility, and quality.
