The presence of Paul Walker's daughter created one of the most emotional moments at the Cannes Festival
The presence of Meadow Walker, Paul Walker's daughter, at the 25th anniversary ceremony of "Fast & Furious" created one of the most emotional moments at the Cannes Festival.
25 years have passed since the first installment of "Fast & Furious," but it seems that this franchise is still most recognized by the name Paul Walker.
At the special film screening at the Cannes Festival, the atmosphere of the red carpet felt more like a family gathering than a Hollywood premiere; especially when Vin Diesel spoke about Paul Walker on stage and couldn't hold back his tears.
Meadow Walker, the late Paul Walker's daughter, was also present at the ceremony and stood next to Vin Diesel; a moment that quickly went viral on social media. Diesel said in part of his speech:
"I pray that everyone has a brother like Paul in their lives."
He explained that his relationship with Paul Walker was beyond a cinematic collaboration and that even the initial script was not meant to depict such a brotherhood, but this true friendship changed the course of the franchise.
Vin Diesel, wearing a black jacket with the words "Fast Forever," announced that the final installment of this franchise is set to be released in 2028; a film that, according to him, is being made solely because of the loyalty of several generations of fans.
At this ceremony, old faces from the franchise like Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, and producer Neal Moritz were also present.
The "Fast & Furious" franchise began in 2001 and now, after 11 films, has become one of the most successful action franchises in Hollywood. Paul Walker's last appearance in this franchise was in the film "Furious 7" in 2015; a film that was completed after his passing in 2013.
The new and final installment titled "Fast Forever" is currently scheduled for March 17, 2028.
