Passengers can now see the bus occupancy live before it arrives.

If you've ever waited for a bus without knowing how crowded it is or how many minutes away it is, Dubai has now found a technological solution for this problem.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has unveiled the world's first fully smart bus station equipped with artificial intelligence; a station built next to Mall of the Emirates that aims to completely transform the public transport experience for residents and tourists.

This new hub is connected to the Mall of the Emirates metro station and covers 11 bus routes to various areas of Dubai, from residential neighborhoods to commercial and tourist centers.

However, the main difference of this station lies in its digital services and smart systems. Inside the station, large displays show the exact arrival times of buses and metros, the status of taxis, a station map, and even the routes to nearby attractions live.

One of the most attractive features is the display of bus occupancy levels before they arrive; a feature that helps passengers make easier decisions on which service to choose, especially during peak hours.

The RTA has also placed a smart kiosk equipped with a virtual assistant at the station that can answer passengers' questions, suggest routes, provide lost and found services, and even connect users directly to the RTA call center.

In another part of this project, AI-equipped cameras monitor crowd movement, detect violations, and generate real-time data for better station management; a system that is set to enhance security and streamline traffic.

This station also operates with solar panels, and smart air quality sensors continuously monitor environmental conditions; part of Dubai's plan for developing green and sustainable transport.

The new hub covers important areas such as Al Barsha, JVC, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Science Park, and Dubai Studio City, making access to attractions like Miracle Garden and Global Village easier.

With this project, Dubai has practically shown that it does not see the future of public transport merely in increasing the number of buses; rather, it has invested in a smart, fast, and frictionless experience for passengers.
