Ferrari has combined the classic manual driving experience with advanced dual-clutch transmission technology by introducing a manual version of the 12cilindri model.

Ferrari unveiled a new version of the front-engine supercar 12cilindri named Manuale. This model is equipped with a system that allows for manual and traditional gear shifting using a physical clutch pedal and a lever shifter.

Engineers in Maranello have developed the Manuale By-Wire system in response to customer feedback. This system is mounted on the same standard eight-speed dual-clutch transmission; however, it simulates the feel of a real manual transmission with a gated shifter. The driver can manually shift through 6 forward gears and reverse, and the car even has the ability to stall in this mode.

To use this feature, the driver must select Manual mode and press the clutch pedal. To maintain an analog and natural feel, Ferrari has used a metal gear lever with a polished head. Two Hall effect sensors monitor the shifter's movement, and a small electric actuator prevents gear engagement outside of manual mode.

The electronic clutch pedal in this model is entirely new. A sensor measures the pedal's depression and converts it into hydraulic commands for the dual-clutch transmission. If the car is started by simply pressing the brake pedal, the transmission behaves like the automatic dual-clutch version; however, if you start the car while pressing the clutch, it directly enters manual mode.

Ferrari has not made any changes to the engine's technical specifications; the heart of the 12cilindri Manuale remains the same 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 with 819 horsepower and 677 Nm of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration of this car is reported to be 3 seconds, with a maximum speed of 340 km/h. Gears seven and eight are also designed for comfortable low-rev cruising on highways.

The Ferrari 12cilindri manual transmission will be produced in very limited numbers, with only 1,499 units made. Each of these cars will be sold through Ferrari's Tailor Made personalization program. The price of this version is not yet specified; however, the standard model starts at around $423,000.
