Travel insurance of 40,000 dirhams for travel to Georgia becomes mandatory
One of the most popular tourist destinations has implemented new and strict regulations at its entry borders.
Georgia has announced a new law stating that all tourists must have valid health and accident insurance before entering the country.
This country, located in the South Caucasus region, is considered one of the popular destinations for tourists from Dubai due to visa-free travel for UAE residents, short flight duration, stunning nature, and impressive architecture.
According to this new law, which will be enforced from January 1, 2026, all tourists entering Georgia must have valid health and accident insurance; this insurance can be provided physically or electronically and must be available in Georgian or English.
The insurance policy can be issued by a Georgian or foreign insurance company, and the coverage amount must not be less than 30,000 Georgian Lari (approximately 41,000 dirhams).
According to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the insurance policy must include the following mandatory information:
* Parties to the insurance contract
* Geographical scope of insurance coverage
* Subject of insurance
* Start and end date of insurance coverage
* Covered risks
* Insurance commitment amount
* Premium amount, place, and payment conditions
The insurance policy must cover the entire duration of your stay in Georgia, including the dates of entry and exit.
However, diplomats and freight transport drivers are exempt from the requirement to provide insurance upon entering Georgia.
