FIFA Adds Halftime Music Performance to World Cup Final for the First Time.

The 2026 World Cup final is set to be more like a global show than ever before; a place where football and music come together on one stage.

FIFA has announced that Madonna, Shakira, and the South Korean group BTS will perform a special halftime show for the World Cup final; an event that will take place for the first time in the history of this competition and will have a vibe similar to the Super Bowl halftime show.

This performance will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, designing and overseeing the artistic direction.

The 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be the largest edition in the history of the tournament, starting on June 11 with 48 teams participating.

Gianni Infantino, the FIFA president, has described this program as "a show worthy of the biggest sporting event in the world"; a program that shows FIFA wants to expand the World Cup beyond just a football match.

Alongside this show, FIFA has announced that parts of Times Square in New York will also be dedicated to special World Cup events during the final weekend; meaning that the city outside the stadium will also have a football atmosphere.
