If you are frustrated with the traffic in Dubai these days, there is some news on the way that could change the commuting patterns of millions.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, during a visit to the construction site of the Dubai Metro Blue Line, spoke about the progress of this project; a 30-kilometer line with 14 stations that is set to be operational by September 9, 2029. The important point here is that half of this route will be built underground and is expected to serve about one million people daily.

What does this mean? It means that if everything goes according to plan, traffic in Dubai will decrease by up to 20%, a figure that is not a small change for a city with such a volume of traffic.

The Blue Line project is being executed with a budget of around 20 billion dirhams and with the collaboration of about 10,000 engineers and specialists. This is just part of a larger picture; a place where Dubai is simultaneously investing in the development of other lines like the "Gold Line of the Metro" and has set aside more than 34 billion dirhams for it.

But the story is not just about the metro. From the new global airport to next-generation transportation networks, and even the transformation of public services with the help of artificial intelligence, all these are pieces of a puzzle: building the "Dubai of the Future".

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed also emphasized during this visit that these projects are part of a larger plan to shape the future of the city; a city that wants to remain at the forefront of innovation and urban development.
