The Dubai Ruler has launched a Ramadan campaign to save 5 million children from malnutrition.
Sheikh Mohammed announced that the campaign "Edge of Life" has been launched in collaboration with a group of international organizations, aiming to raise at least one billion dirhams.
The Dubai Ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, unveiled the Ramadan campaign "Edge of Life" on Friday; a campaign aimed at saving 5 million children under five from death due to malnutrition and hunger.
Sheikh Mohammed wrote in a message on social media:
"In a few days, we will welcome the generous month that is very dear to us... and according to our annual tradition, we will launch a humanitarian Ramadan campaign from the people of the UAE to the world."
He emphasized the spirit of generosity that defines the month of Ramadan and reminded the importance of supporting the needy and sharing the UAE's generosity with communities around the world.
Sheikh Mohammed noted that last year, more than 118 million children worldwide suffered from malnutrition; he stated that it is estimated that 2.6 million of them lost their lives due to hunger.
He emphasized:
"It is neither our character nor our values to hear of such a humanitarian disaster occurring before the eyes of the world and take no action in response."
He added that this campaign has now begun with the participation of a group of international organizations, and its main goal is to raise at least one billion dirhams both domestically and internationally to save five million children "who are on the edge of life."

The Dubai Ruler concluded his remarks with a prayer for the protection of the UAE and its people.
He emphasized the spirit of generosity, saying:
"And gather us in the month of goodness for the best charitable deeds; including feeding the hungry among the poor and needy."
